Course Overview:

Digital video has revolutionized videography and has placed powerful tools within reach of every household. This introductory course takes a broad look at digital video: it's advantages over analog video, required equipment, general terminology, and more. The course is intended for aspiring videographers who are just getting started and need a little guidance to get their movie making off the ground. You will learn the skills required to shoot good footage, capture/transfer to your computer, perform rudimentary editing and share with your family and friends. Students are welcome to bring their own camera, however, SkillQ provides equipment for practice and demonstration.

Students learn to:

  • Identification of the basic components and controls of a digital video camera
  • Photographic concepts critical for every videographer
  • Fundamental shooting techniques that will improve any video project
  • Basic procedures to capture or transfer digital video to your computer
  • Concepts of video compression and transcoding
  • Options for editing and sharing your video project

Class Length: approx. 2 hours
