Join us for a course where we won't just tell you, we'll SHOW you the world of podcasts, and demonstrate what they can do! They're not only a great way to get information from news sources, but they can also be a free educational source: learn a new language, catch up on the latest technology tricks and trends, or even watch a college physics course! And the best part? They're all FREE! They can quickly and easily be taken with you on your iPod or iPhone, or even burned to a disk and taken with you in the car! We'll teach you what you need to know so that you can do it all – even if you're on a tight budget. In our instructor-led course, you'll learn basic audio editing and take advantage of royalty free music and effects to create a polished product that will impress your audience and deliver your message! You'll also learn how to record multiple subjects simultaneously, and how to edit your recordings to get a polished sound: eliminate breaths, mistakes, background noises, and other distractors. Additionally, we will take prepared video clips and turn them into a refined marketing piece through adding narration, music, and sound effects. Additionally, we will explore the possible connections between podcasts, blogs, and social networks so that you will be on your way to creating a unified marketing campaign with a limitless audience!

Students learn to:

• Search for podcasts
• Download podcasts
• Subscribe to podcasts
• Add podcasts to iPods or other portable media
• Record voice-over into Garageband
• Add music / sound effects
• Create RSS feed
• Record two people simultaneously
• Edit recorded voice over and music
• Further explore music and sound effects
• Import video into Garageband
• Pair voice over and video together
• Integration with blogger and other social media

Class Length: approx. 8 hours

Prerequisites:

• General computer knowledge (Mac or PC)
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware:
  • Microphones
  • Photo Cameras
  • Video Cameras
• Willingness to learn
• Note taking materials, if desired

Beverages and munchies provided; one hour mid-day lunch break.
