Digital Video: Getting Started

Course Overview:

Digital video has revolutionized videography and has placed powerful tools within reach of every household. This introductory course takes a broad look at digital video: it's advantages over analog video, required equipment, general terminology, and more. The course is intended for aspiring videographers who need a little guidance to get their movie making off the ground. You will learn the skills required to shoot quality scenes, capture/transfer to your computer, and perform simple editing techniques that will transform your project. By the end of the class, you will have a DVD you can share with your family and friends, or add to your budding portfolio. Students are welcome to bring their own camera, however, SkillQ provides equipment for practice and demonstration.

Through hands-on practice, students learn to:

  • Photographic concepts critical for every videographer
  • Shooting techniques that will improve any video project
  • To capture or transfer digital video to a computer
  • Basic editing techniques
  • Options for sharing your video project
